One man dead, one man injured in Floyd Co. shooting

A spokesman for the Floyd County Sheriff's office says there was a shots fired call around 8 Wednesday night on Moccasin Ridge Court in New Albany.

FLOYD CO., Ind. (WHAS11) -- One person is dead and another hurt after a shooting in Southern Indiana on Nov. 22.

The Floyd County Sheriff said the shooting happened around 8 p.m. on Moccasin Ridge Court just off Charlestown Road.


When officers arrived at the scene police found the homeowner, David Chin, with a gunshot wound to his hand. The deceased man was identified as Mark McCane, 49, from Floyd Knobs and he had multiple gunshot wounds. 


Chin was treated at UofL Hospital for his injury, which was non-life threatening. 

There is no word on how the two victims may be connected.


Officers are still investigating and Sheriff Frank Loop wants residents to know they are not looking for anyone else that may be involved.
