Not enough money to pay Metro Council District 21 staffers

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – There is more fallout from the firing of Louisville Metro councilman Dan Johnson, who represented much of South Louisville.

According to a council resolution approved Thursday night, there isn't enough money in the District 21 budget to cover the salaries of three staffers.

One of those staffers was hired at a salary of $63,000 per year just before a council panel removed Johnson from his seat.

Under the resolution, that staffer will be fired because there isn't enough money to pay them.

The two remaining part-time employees in the district will continue to be paid until a decision is made by the council or Johnson's future replacement.
