National Baptist Convention of America moves headquarters to Louisville

National Baptist Convention moves to Lou.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Simmons College of Kentucky announced a new collaboration Wednesday with the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc.

“Simmons is our school. Louisville is our home. Greg Fischer is our Mayor, and until Simmons gets a football program, the Louisville Cardinals is our football team,” said Reverend Sam Tolbert, President of the National Baptist Convention of America.

The National Baptist Convention of America (NBCA) voted unanimously to put its corporate headquarters on Simmons College of Kentucky’s campus, a move Dr. Kevin Cosby calls a win for the college and the city.

“This means an increase of both students and resources at Simmons College, it also means Louisville will be the hub for NBCA life and activities,” said Dr. Cosby, President of Simmons College of Kentucky.

The new headquarters will be the NBCA's base for staff operations, meetings, conferences and conventions. The group will hold its annual session in Louisville in September of 2017.

Representatives from the NBCA say they hope to transition ten employees from Dallas to Louisville over the next three to six months.
