LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Officials with Kentucky's NAACP branches are upset about what they call a lack of diversity within the State Department of Corrections and sent a letter to Governor Bevin.
The president of the conference, Raoul Cunningham, points out there are no African-Americans in any of the top decision-making positions within the department.
He goes on to argue, “diversity leads to better decisions and that individuals of various races make our systems and processes better, stronger and equitable.”
Cunningham wraps up the letter by writing, the organization is ready to work with the governor, as well as the heads of the state corrections and justice cabinets.
