Minority contractors tour city for work

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--A lot of excitement at King Solomon Baptist Church as dozens of minority contractors hopped on a bus in search of work around the city.

The event was put on by the organization Jesus and a Job with the goal of employing minority groups.

Leaders from Brothers Helping Brothers, Community Connections and other groups  say there's a direct connection between unemployment and crime and their hope is to bridge the gap through the program.

March 9 tour bus stops at Heaven Hill, Brown Forman, the Convention Center, Omni Louisville and other sites around Louisville where the contractors are hoping to pick up work.

Jesus and a Job also plans to work on rebuilding homes in the Beecher Terrace area and fix up abandoned buildings around the city.
