Meeting with U of L Foundation, trustees canceled

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A joint meeting with the U of L Foundation was canceled Monday and member Dr. Mark Lynn is demanding the meeting be held Friday as proposed.

Lynn, of Vision Works, is currently on the Foundation board.

The full board and the Foundation were supposed to discuss having a forensic accounting examination of the Foundation and how it spends money.

In a statement sent to WHAS11 News, Lynn says Foundation chairman Bob Hughes was wrong to cancel it.

“It is the responsibility of the Foundation to have a joint meeting with the Board of Trustees on Friday – canceling this meeting will further damage the reputation (of both).”

Hughes said lawyers advised him not to have the meeting.

Trustee Chairman Larry Benz sent Hughes a letter giving him a deadline for Tuesday to meet certain steps or the trustees will sue. Hughes says he can’t meet the demands.

Big donors including Humana founder David Jones and the Brown Foundation have raised concerns about U of L.
