Lou. mayor requests court to unseal Explorers lawsuit; program temporarily suspended

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer asked that the lawsuit that claims a man was sexually abused when he was a teenager during his participation in the Louisville Metro Police Youth Explorer’s Program be unsealed.

On Monday the program was suspended temporarily.

According to Fischer, the motion is asking courts to unseal the lawsuit but also protect the man’s identity.

“The allegations in this lawsuit are extremely disturbing and the case needs transparency from beginning to end,” Fischer said.

Jefferson Circuit Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman sealed the suit, filed in Jefferson Circuit Court on behalf of a person identified only as “N.C.,” on the motion of his attorney, David Yates.
