LMPD expected to release body cam footage

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Metro Police Chief Steve Conrad is expected to release body camera footage of the moment an officer opened fire on a man after a confrontation Wednesday.

Sources close to the family say the man who was shot is Bruce Warrick who is in his late 30s.

In a brief news conference, Conrad said the officer spotted Warrick hiding behind a mattress inside an abandoned home they were clearing due to suspected drug activity.

The officer ordered Warrick to show his hands and then fired one shot which hit him in the stomach.

Warrick is now in serious critical condition after having major abdominal surgery, but he is not facing any charges.

WHAS11's Holden Kurwicki will have more information starting at 4 o'clock.
