LOUISVILLE, Ky. (NEWS RELEASE) -- Crews with Walsh Construction will be doing some surfacing work on the Abraham Lincoln Bridge this weekend. The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Walsh Construction have noticed some areas where the surface is not wearing as expected.
The areas are limited to two northbound lanes (the right and middle lane on I-65 North). Crews will be removing the old surface in isolated areas and applying new. The work is expected to be complete by early Monday morning.
Impact on Traffic
The following closures will be in place this weekend to complete the work
- Ramp from I-64 West/I-71 South to I-65 North
- Two lanes of I-65 North on the Lincoln Bridge (reduced to a single lane
- One lane of I-65 North from Muhammad Ali Boulevard to the Lincoln Bridge
The closures are expected to begin around 9 p.m. on Friday, September 16 and end by 5 a.m. on Monday, September 19. Signed detours are in place during full closures.
The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur.
The Downtown Crossing includes the new Abraham Lincoln Bridge, an improved Kennedy Bridge and interstate connections on both sides of the river. Substantial completion of the entire Downtown Crossing is scheduled for December 2016.
