Light Up Louisville plans announced

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Halloween is just two days away but the city is already looking ahead to the holiday season.

Mayor Greg Fischer announced this year's plans for Light Up Louisville Friday. The event begins on Black Friday with the Run Run Rudolph 5-K Race and Walk and the opening of the entertainment stage at Fourth Street. The Lots of Lights parade kicks off later that evening.

Santa Claus will be there at 8 p.m. to flip the switch that will turn on thousands of lights that brighten Main Street all the way to Broadway. And right after that, the big fireworks show.

“It's kind of hard to believe that we're saying the holidays are about here. We've got this nice set up and these beautiful elves who came from the North Pole to help us, and we look forward to seeing you downtown for the holidays,” said Mayor Greg Fischer.
