Ky. receives funding in fight against human trafficking

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentucky’s fight against human trafficking received a boost Friday in the form of federal funding.

Attorney General Andy Beshear announcing today his office and Catholic Charities of Louisville will receive $1.5 million to go towards efforts against human trafficking.

Kentucky is one of only five states to receive the grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The two offices will receive the funds over three years and the money will go toward better research and data collection, educating law enforcement and prosecutors and increasing direct victim services.
