Wife of suspect in Clark Co. drug bust talks after husband's arrest

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) – They are a smiling couple who know they have a long road ahead of them.

“We don’t have no car, no money [and] no phone,” Tracy Nguyen said.

Nguyen was in court Monday supporting her husband Darren Ngo. Ngo is facing multiple drug charges after Clarksville police say he was part of a group that allegedly brought in nearly 3,000 pounds of marijuana to the area in the last 18 months.

“When we looked at the amount of drugs that we were able to calculate that was coming in here, we’re looking at $5.5 million worth of marijuana that was actually being trafficked all the way from California to Clark County,” Clarksville Police Chief Mark Palmer said.

Nguyen and Ngo's attorney Larry Wilder says this case doesn't add up.

“I have been practicing law for 31 years I have never had a client whose engaged in that activity when they went into their homes they didn't find drugs they didn’t find guns they didn’t find drug paraphernalia they found nothing in these people’s homes,” Attorney Larry Wilder said.

WHAS11 News came right out and asked Nguyen if she and her family were involved the drug trade.

“I don't have to do that I have good job I have good business,” she said.

Nguyen is getting support from many of her clients at the nail salon she runs.

“I know her as a hard working individual who's truly trying to live the American dream she's come to our country she's learned English, she's paid taxes she's worked 6 days a week – 12 hours a day,”
Tana Bolus, client said.

Nguyen says she came here for a better life for her kids and says that's all she and her family have been doing.

“I’m working hard for them so they can go to college here saving money for them,” she said.

Three other people were charged in the month’s long drug investigation -- in addition to Ngo.

Nguyen is not facing any criminal charges.
