Still no contract for Clarksville Police

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police officers in Clarksville, Indiana say they make more arrests than surrounding communities and get paid less.

They are in the middle of contract negotiations and say they may call in an arbitrator. The officers’ contract ended in December.

Those with the Fraternal Order of Police say they are at an impasse now with town leadership.

Council members say this is how the process works and say the benefits are some of the best in the state.

The attorney for the police union says the town hasn’t given them an offer.

“We just want a conversation dealing with these folks. It’s like going on a date with a pretty girl and she won’t talk to you – we just want somebody to talk to, we just want to talk to them,” Attorney Larry Wilder said.

Council members say they are in negotiations.
