LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- An Indiana congressional candidate was arrested after a reported struggle over his phone during a traffic stop in Louisville.
According to an arrest report, a KSP trooper pulled over Russell Brooksbank after he signaled a right hand turn using only his middle finger.
The officer said Brooksbank did not comply when asked for his information. The officer said Brooksbank got out his phone and told the trooper he was going to record the traffic stop. The officer then tried to reach for Brooksbank's phone and a struggle occurred with Brooksbank reportedly trying to pull the officer into the vehicle.
Brooksbank now faces charges of third degree assault of a police officer among other charges.
Brooksbank is running for the 9th congressional district seat against Shelli Yoder and Trey Hollingsworth.
