Harvest Homecoming kicks off in New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- In Southern Indiana the start of fall means pumpkins galore, including the pumpkin chunking competition.

Thirty-six teams will use homemade machines to try and hit a target with a pumpkin from up to 100 yards away.

The competition isn't until October 4, but the Harvest Homecoming kicks off Saturday at noon with a parade.

The festival runs through October 9 and also includes booths, tractor pulls and a Harvest Idol competition.
