CLARK CO., Ind. (WHAS11) – Tonight, the Greater Clark County School Board will discuss getting rid of the valedictorian system. That meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Superintendent Andrew Melin said there is growing sentiment nationally that the valedictorian system hurts students by pushing them toward classes where they can get the best grades instead of taking classes that will benefit them the most.
GCCS would honor the top 10 percent of the class rather than one or two students.
