Ind. veterans organization still looking for volunteer drivers

The Louisville VA is still looking for volunteers to help drive veterans to their appointments.Since our story aired last week, more than 40 people have shown an interest, but there are still needs throughout Kentuckiana.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Madison, Indiana chapter of Disabled American Veterans needs volunteers to drive veterans from the Jefferson County, Indiana area to Louisville for their VA Hospital appointments.


Since our story, "Veterans group asking for more volunteer drivers" aired, more than 40 people have called the Louisville VA to begin the process of volunteering. Volunteers must pass a background check and a physical.


While this is great news, there is still volunteer positions that need to be filled.


Rita Flowers, Louisville VA Hospital’s Voluntary Services Specialist, says the VA hospital is looking for drivers from:


Campbellsville, KY

Corydon, IN

Crawford County, KY

Elizabethtown, KY

Ft. Knox, KY

Grayson County, KY

Glasgow, KY

Jasper, IN
