I-64 back open after worker struck, killed

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)  St. Matthews police say a road worker died Thursday night after a car struck him on I-64 E near the Watterson Expressway.


James Howard Bland Jr., 55, of Versailles, Ky. died at the scene. Police say he was placing cones on the road when he was hit. MetroSafe says he was a Flag Pro employee, working traffic control. He was also an employee of the city of Louisville. He worked for the city as a Metro Public Works Inspector.

The accident happened after 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The driver of the car did stop and is cooperating with Police.

No word on if they will face any charges.
