LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--The first day of winter marks what is known as Homeless Persons Memorial Day.
On this day every year, communities across the country are hoping to call attention to what the homeless have to face especially during the cold weather.
A service is planned Dec.21 in Louisville on the steps of the Jefferson County Courthouse.
The service will begin at noon with music from the Down by the Wayside Choir before names of those homeless people who died this year are read aloud.
