LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS 11)--For many in Kentuckiana trick-or-treating on Hillcrest Avenue is a Halloween Tradition.
WHAS 11 spent Halloween morning with Katie Kubitskey who has lived on the street for less than two years. She was excited to move to Hillcrest and be part of the fun October tradition. This year she transformed her front yard into a scene from the classic movie Hocus Pocus complete with spell book and black flame candle.
It’s just one of many homes on the street that draw an estimated 75,000 visitors each year. Trick-or-treating in the neighborhood will be Halloween night from 5-9pm.
On average, 2,500 to 3,000 children from around the city will come for trick-or-treating. Multiply that by 1 or 2 parents and you can expect 5,000 people on the street Halloween night.
The neighborhood has hired several off-duty police officers to help keep things running smoothly.
If you haven’t been to Hillcrest for Halloween, it’s on Hillcrest Avenue between Brownsboro and Frankfort Avenue.
