LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Mayor Fischer said the Whiskey Row fires gave the city a blank canvas to work with in the downtown area and on Nov. 28 developer Steve Poe gave some insight into what the future holds.
Two new, but different hotels will occupy what is now a vacant space at First and Main streets: Distil and Moxy. Those hotels fall under the Marriott International Umbrella.
The 14-floor structure will be Poe’s 13th and 14th hotel in Louisville, and he says they will be edgier and grittier than his previous properties, such as Aloft which sits just across the street.
Mayor Fischer said there are currently 25 hotels under construction in the city of Louisville. Fischer said, when asked if that was too many, he simply responded it’s not enough.
