LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Louisville Metro Police is receiving opposition from the Fraternal Order of Police after the chief of police announced plans for reorganization Sep. 16.
Chief Steve Conrad announced several personnel changes including creating a full-time SWAT division made up of 20 officers and doing away with the flex units in the divisions.
FOP President David Mutchler released a letter Monday night expressing concern over the changes.
“We believe that dismantling the flex platoons in each of the eight patrol divisions should NOT be considered and will take an important option away from division commanders to combat crime and narcotics trafficking in their respective divisions,” Mutchler said in a statement.
The FOP says they’ve reached out to numerous groups including the Metro Council on the matter.
