LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Police are investigating a deadly accident involving an ambulance in southwest Jefferson County.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Shanks Lane and Cane Run Road.
According to police, an ambulance had its lights and sirens on when it proceeded through the red light and collided with a black SUV.
The SUV hit two others vehicles that were stopped in traffic. The driver of the SUV died at the scene.
The EMS driver and two other workers were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Police said the patient in the ambulance was not injured.
One of the drivers of the two vehicles hit was treated for minor injuries. The other was not injured.
