Confederate statues moved to Lexington Cemetery

Deal finalized to move confederate statues

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The two Confederate statues that made national news in downtown Lexington now have a permanent home in the Lexington Cemetery.

The statues of Confederate General John Hunt Morgan and John C. Breckenridge were fixtures in downtown Lexington for more than 130 years before the city removed them last month.

Both men are buried at the cemetery.

The cemetery will have access to a new fund started at the Blue Grass Community Foundation for moving costs and maintenance.
