LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- UofL students came together to have a discussion about police in the community.
Several Black Greek organizations came together to host "A different World".
The event was in partnership with LMPD, local lawyers, religious leaders, and faculty.
The focus was to start a dialogue on police relations and review the rights people have when they are pulled over by police.
"This is important to me because I’m not just an African American member of society. I am a member of society and I want to be able to know my rights and one of the goals of this event is to be able to equipt ourselves with the tools we need to be successful and to not have to go out in fear or in the I’m guilty until proven innocent mindset," Alisha Davis-Kent said.
Students say they believe tonight's event was a success and they appreciated faculty support and support from law enforcement.
Student groups say similar events like tonight's will be held in the future.
