LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A local church’s youth group hit the pavement in the community to promote peace and wellness Saturday.
Members of St. Stephen’s church walked downtown and through communities hardest affected by violence.
Organizers said young people in the congregation wanted to do something positive in the city.
The route spanned 7 miles with members saying the number 7 represents completeness in the bible and they wanted to do something good for the city.
“They really want to make a difference because they’ve seen too many of their friends go in the wrong direction. A lot of their kids got into trouble doing a lot of different things – a lot of violence in the city and they really want to make a change,” Amy Flanigan said.
Organizers say the walk shows the community that not all area youth are lost and that with positive influences many things can turn around.
