St. Augustine parishioners, community 'walk' for social change

Community supports those living in poverty

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A community is making small steps to make one big impression.

Community members gathered at St. Augustine Saturday to work toward their goal of social change.

The event included a cake walk, mural painting to be on display at the We Day Kentucky celebration in 2016 and some medical resources allowing those to check in with nurses on their health.

"It lets these families know there's hope – that there's hope that things will turn around. There's people out here who will help to give them what they need, turn them around, [and] put them in the right direction," Stacy Burks, a nurse said.

The group also held their own "Light of Hope" display to show support for the "Lightfest Re-ignited Movement," which is a worldwide campaign dedicated to showing hope and support for people living in poverty.
