City begins 'Building our Blocks' initiative

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The city has started a new initiative aimed at fighting crime one block at a time.

The Building Our Blocks campaign brings city workers including Metro Public Works and LMPD with others like Brightside and the Urban League for an intensive clean and buildup session.

The team will target Smoketown on Oct. 14 and they will be in another West Louisville neighborhood next month.

During September’s test run in the Russell neighborhood, those involved collected more than 20,000 pounds of junk.
