City to explore new site for LMPD's impound lot

After 50 years the city is looking for a new land to put it's impound lot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – City officials have started the process of finding a new home for Metro Police’s impound lot.

The lot, located on Frankfort Avenue in Butchertown, houses more than 2,000 vehicles that have been towed or are being used as evidence.

The impound lot currently sits in the middle of an existing network of greenway trails that provide access to Waterfront Park, the future soccer stadium district and the Waterfront Botanical Gardens.

The city needs a lot that is at least 15-acres of flat land for the new impound lot.

Community ideas are also planned to hear public ideas for the new site.
