Charges dismissed against Hardin Co. jailer

HARDIN CO., Ky. (WHAS11) – All charges have been dismissed against the Hardin County deputy jailer after a fight in the jail last month.

According to investigators, Deputy Jailer Joseph Funk and Sheriff's Deputy Clennon Smith exchanged words over where a backpack should be placed. Those words turned into a physical fight where Funk was choked, thrown to the ground and punched several times.

Funk was arrested and charged with assaulting a probation officer and resisting arrest.

Mike Mann, the Commonwealth Attorney for Bullitt County and a special prosecutor for this case, dismissed those charges.

Funk has returned to work at the jail.
