Boil water advisory lifted after water main break in Shelby Park area

LWC still working to repair water main break

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- The boil water advisory for approximately four thousand quality tests performed by Louisville Water Company confirm that the water is safe to drink after a water main break on Tuesday.

Louisville Water Company advises clearing your water lines before use by running the water for about one minute. If you have an automatic ice machine, allow the receptacle to fill twice and discard the ice. Chilled water lines should be run for about one minute before using water.

On Tuesday, four-thousand Louisville Water customers in the Shelby Park area and several surrounding neighborhoods were placed under a precautionary Boil Water Advisory.  The advisory was issued after a decrease in pressure from the water main break at Oak and Clay Streets.
