Bob Hughes resigns from U of L Foundation

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Lingering tension on the board of the U of L Foundation has led to the resignation of the man who was the strongest supporter of former president Dr. James Ramsey.

Bob Hughes of Murray, Kentucky is leaving the board.

Over the years, he signed off on lucrative deferred payments that were given to Ramsey and his aide Kathleen Smith and others.

The new leader of the Foundation, Brucie Moore, said she regretted that Hughes didn’t agree with the board’s new direction but thanked him for his faithful service.

Hughes sent a lengthy statement to WHAS11 News saying in part:

“Drinking one’s own Kool-Aid too often is not healthy. I guess I grew weary of all the inconsistencies and innuendoes not supported by an honest, factual debate."
