LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Ballard High graduate and minor league baseball player Jo Adell returned home to discuss his efforts to give back to the community.
Adell partnered with Jefferson County Public Schools and Louisville Metro Police for a turkey drive at Newburg Middle School Sunday to feed the less fortunate over the holidays.
Adell said it’s important for athletes to give back when they can and coming back home for a turkey drive was a no-brainer.
“I lived here for 10 years and everybody here is family. That’s how I treat it. If I can come back and give back – like I ran the camp earlier this year, that’s the things you have to do. Being a pro-athlete, you overlook some of the little things. You know, whether it’s a post-game meal – some people don’t have the fortunance to have a meal,” he said.
Adell recently signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
