(WHAS 11)--Controversy is brewing over a new request to expand Wayside Christian Mission.
The homeless shelter is hoping to expand its facilities to a new home at Jefferson and Jackson streets in the East Market Street neighborhood.
The Metro Board of zoning adjustment will consider the application.
Some critics say the shelter shouldn't expand into the Nulu area, which is under redevelopment.
The expanded facility will increase Waysides capacity from 360 beds to 640.
