(WHAS 11)— An overnight fire in Hikes Point has fire officials talking about a possible connection with a recent string of arsons nearby.

Officials are calling these fires incredibly dangerous.  They are allegedly being set in the middle of the night when families are asleep and these fires have the potential to spread quickly.

Crews arrived to a home in the 8100 block of Regency Woods Way around 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

Their wreath was set on fire, leaving behind charred black marks on the top and bottom of the door. The family inside was asleep, but was able to put the fire out before crews got to the scene. There were no injuries.

About three weeks ago, an east end family woke up around the same time when their dog started barking and flames covered their front door in a subdivision off Six Mile Lane.  That fire reportedly caused thousands of dollars in damage. Officials said they do not have any solid leads and need the public's help to get the person or persons responsible in police custody.

As a result, arson investigators have been passing out fliers alerting residents and asking for information.

Anyone with information is asked to call 574-3721.
