LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A woman who survived a house fire said a complete stranger helped save her life.

“I'm thankful that the Good Samaritan stopped by and told us that the house was on fire,” Mariha Fischer said.

The fire started just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, March 4, in the 4300 block of Larkwood Aveneue. Fisher is one of the two who lived in the home.

She said she didn't even realize a fire was raging in her attic until she heard the pounding on her door.
