(WHAS11) - A fatal crash in the 4700 block of Southern Parkway, near the Resurrection Episcopal Church, happened at 6 a.m. on Saturday and took the life of the driver.
MetroSafe dispatchers said the car hit a tree and killed the woman who was driving.
Police said the woman, 65-year-old Barbara Vaughn, of 4113 Southern Parkway was driving an older model Volvo. She hit a tree in the access road to the 4100 block of southern Parkway. Police said Vaughn was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash has not yet been released and investigators are looking into whether speed and alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
