LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Police held a news conference Thursday and said an employee of Kohl's department store tried to conceal her pregnancy and she killed her newborn girl by placing the baby in the garbage.
Jessica Price, 29, was arrested Wednesday and was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse after a police said she gave birth at the store on Standiford Plaza Drive a week ago.
"The baby was discovered when they exchanged the trash bag from one to another. He discovered the baby in the bag," LT. Todd Kessinger with LMPD homicide unit said.
Police said she left work for two hours after giving birth then came back only to find police everywhere.
Price tried to cover up everything, detectives said, by placing the body and other evidence in the garbage.
The exact cause of the baby's death has yet to be determined.
"We still have tests that are pending," Kessinger said.
Price is being held without bond at Metro Corrections. She is scheduled to be back in court Aug. 26.
