LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Louisville mother accused of murdering a woman and her son spoke to WHAS11 about facing capital murder charges and the plea deal that set her free.
Laquita Townsend entered into a plea agreement last week as her trial was about to begin.
“That was the best feeling I ever had. My family was down there my oldest son was downstairs waiting for me. It was just like the best feeling” said Townsend.
She spent three years in jail and her attorneys say the system failed her. Townsend says it's not just her word against witnesses, she says there is proof.
“I feel like if they would have done their investigation the right way the first time that I wouldn't have been in there that long. They was just going by what they felt was right they didn't care about my side” said Townsend.
