LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- With temperatures below freezing tonight, shelters like Wayside Christian Mission will be full as those who are homeless seek shelter from the bitter cold.

On Tuesday night, Dec. 10, more than 100 people stayed at Wayside, and on Wednesday night they are expecting more. Volunteers will clear out the dining room and put down mats where they can, all to make sure as many people as possible get inside. Volunteers will also go out to do Good Samaritan patrols. They'll be taking warm beverages, food and clothing to those who are staying outside despite the cold.

Wayside is always in need of monetary donations. They could also use food, clothing and toilet paper. You can drop off items at their location at 432 East Jefferson. If you are interested in participating in the Good Samaritan Patrol, call 502-552-2241 and ask for Ryan.
