LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Relish, a restaurant located near the Big Four walking bridge at Waterfront Park closed after lunch on Wednesday.
It had been in business for only 18 months, but opened to rave reviews and sometimes long waits for lunch.
The owner of Relish, Susan Seiller, told WHAS11 that the small location and only 53 seats prevented her from covering her overhead and it was no longer possible to stay open.
The popularity of the lunch business allowed her to expand to dinner, but Seiller says she may have been ahead of her time when it came to the location. The dinner business was not as strong as she had hoped. Twenty-two employees are now looking to find jobs elsewhere.
Seiller owned Jack Fry’s in the Highlands for 23 years and turned it into what is considered to be Louisville’s most popular restaurant .
Relish is located in the Stop Lite Liquor complex owned by the Bollinger family.
Jesse Bollinger said that Stop Lite is not affected by the closing and that he will look to put another restaurant in the spot once Relish vacates.
