LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A water supply pipe burst in Metro Hall sending employees into a frenzy to save valuable artwork and historic furniture in the Mayor’s and some of his officials offices.

The burst happened on the sixth floor of the building in the studios of Metro TV.

Water was found on the fourth floor of the Mayor’s suite and in the second floor communications suite.

According to a press release, Metro Hall will be open for normal business hours but many of the staff will have to be relocated for nearly two weeks while repairs are made.

Officials say the Jefferson County Clerk’s office was unaffected.

Crews aren’t sure how the flooding happened but says it could be connected to the underground explosions that happened downtown early Saturday.
