LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The WHAS Crusade for Children has received their biggest donation after a local woman's dying wish was to help children in the community.
When Rita Cherry passed away, she left the bulk of her estate to the Crusade, totaling $873,056.10.
"Today the WHAS Crusade for Children received the largest individual gift in the history of the Crusade which is sixty years. It's heartwarming to see a generous individual wanting to leave a lasting legacy," said Dawn Lee, the CEO for the WHAS Crusade for Children.
The Crusade will honor Cherry's generosity at the 'Night at the Museum Crusade Endowment Gala' on February 24th. For information on this fundraiser, click here.
