HENDERSON, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A Western Kentucky man is facing charges Monday night, April 22, over what police say he was talking about in a restaurant.

Brenden Mathis, 20, of Henderson was arrested on Sunday after someone overheard him talking about explosives and Henderson County High School.

Police say the person used an instant communication system to reach school officials who called Henderson police.

Mathis was arrested later at his home on Sunday, April 21. Police say he's a former student at the school.

There were extra officers on campus Monday but police say the school is safe.
