LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)—Louisville will be playing host to a group of Vietnam veterans.

The Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association will have a reunion in Louisville for the first time.

“When we came back in the 1960's not many people were happy to see us.  We never got a welcome.  So when we exchange hellos...to other Vietnam veterans we always use the same two words we still do today? Welcome Home,” Moon Mullen said, a member of the association.

They said they have received a warm welcome in the Derby City and are giving back. On Thursday the traveling Vietnam Wall will be at Waterfront Park. It is an 80 percent replica of the wall that bears the names of 48,000 men and women who died.

They also have a big show planned. A combat reenactment will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday at Waterfront Park with actual hueys flying with a helicopter.

The wall will be at Waterfront Park through July 5.
