(WHAS11) -- 46 years later, Robert Austin of Madison, Ind. is finally being honored for his service in the Vietnam War.
When Austin enlisted in the Navy in 1963, the United States role in Southeast Asia was still developing. After three years at sea and two campaigns in Vietnam, Austin returned home to a frustrated and torn country.
46 years after coming home, Robert Austin finally received his Navy medals on Friday.
