SCOTTSBURG, Ind. (WHAS11) -- A Louisville man was arrested after reportedly attempting to steal a car listed on Craigslist.
According to the police report, a Scottsburg man listed his Dodge Charger for sale on the website and was contacted by 25-year-old Marcus Forbes of Louisville.
Forbes communicated with the seller for several days before driving to the man's Indiana home with friends to finalize the deal, police said. After a short time at the victim's home, Forbes' friends left and he stayed behind. Police said he told the man he was waiting for a family member to bring him the money to buy the car.
After hours of waiting for the money, Forbes and the man went for a test drive in the vehicle. Police said after a short drive, the victim asked Forbes to turn back but he refused and drove onto Interstate 65 heading south.
Police said the man continued to ask Forbes to return to his home, but Forbes kept driving. Forbes continued to drive for several miles before the victim, who was armed with a weapon, pulled out his gun and forced him to stop.
Once stopped, the victim called police on his cell phone.
Troopers caught up with Forbes and the victim around mile marker 25.
Forbes was taken into custody and is charged with Criminal Confinement, Class C Felony; Conversion, Class C Felony; Attempted Theft, Class D Felony and False Informing, Class B Misdemeanor.
