LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A dedication ceremony was held Monday morning for renovations going on at Charlie Vettiner Park off Billtown Road.
The first phase of renovations includes a new walkway, new parking spaces, speed bumps and drainage improvements.
The work is being performed in 6 phases in the next few years.
“This is a true destination park for citizens of all the city but for East Louisville in particular. You all know that we’ve worked real hard on continuing to create a healthier city and that includes physical health, mental health and social health,” Mayor Greg Fischer said.
Charlie Vettiner Park opened in 1957. Vettiner was the first Metro Parks director in Louisville.
The renovations to the park, which is just outside Jeffersontown, will cost more than $750,000 and will be completed by June 2015.
