LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – After attending a stunning speech by former first lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, hundreds of women from the United Methodist Women and the local social justice community marched in solidarity.
They began at the Kentucky International Convention Center and walked to Baxter Park near the Beecher Terrace housing complex.
Both groups say their mission is to bring focus to racial and economic justice for its residents.
“From the groups of networks that we’ve made locally, we understand that there is an invisible divide between east and west Louisville and it’s something that people locally have been working on for a long time. We wanted to add our voice and our energy to the quest to eliminate that invisible divide,” Harriet Jane Olsen said.
Hillary Clinton’s speech at the United Methodist Women’s Assembly drew in more than 7,000 attendees Saturday.
