BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WHAS11) -- A UPS Airbus A300 like the one that crashed last week in Alabama is now sitting on the Tarmac at Birmingham’s airport as part of the federal investigation into the crash.
The plane crashed near the Birmingham airport on Wednesday after leaving Louisville--killing the pilot and co-pilot.
The National Transportation Safety Board says the airbus parked in Birmingham is for investigators to visit--they'll take part in a test flight in the coming weeks.
A team investigators spent part of last week in Louisville and found no mechanical problems with the plane after looking at maintenance records.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
